In 2016, we further expanded our capabilities by joining the JHI Group of Companies. This has allowed us to provide the level of quality and service that our Clients have come to know and trust.

Joel Copley, PE
Joel Copley is a Vice President of the JHI Group and President of 620 Construction division. Joel earned a master’s degree in Civil Engineering from Ohio University and is registered as a Professional Engineer in the state of Ohio. Working as a project manager for the company since 2000, Joel has helped develop a range of projects for many different clients. “I enjoy the variety of challenges that our business continually poses to us, there is never a dull moment. I am most proud of the relationships I’ve developed with many of our clients and am gratified for their continued trust in our organization to help them solve problems and propel their business.” Joel and his wife Kay were married in 1994 and have two grown children.
Carol Curtin serves as the office manager for 620 Construction. With over 20 years of financial and administrative experience in the construction industry, she is a vital component of our team. Carol has extensive experience with the construction accounting process and is proficient in job cost reporting and invoicing. She prides herself on her problem-solving ability and her attention to detail. Carol is the first voice you will hear when you call 620 Construction and she looks forward to helping you start your construction journey.
Construction Operations Supervisor
Dan Conney is the Construction Operations Supervisor at 620 Construction. He has worked for the JHI Group for over 30 years in multiple capacities including Foreman, Superintendent and Safety Coordinator. He has experience in masonry, concrete, carpentry, steel erection, equipment operation, supervision and safety. His favorite project was for the “Snoopy Rocks on Ice” job at Cedar Point in which he was the project supervisor. He has served on the boards of the Huron County Safety Council, Huron County Humane Society, 4H and Lefty Grove Baseball. He is an ordained minister and likes to spend time with his grandson Micah.
Bruce Steiner brings over 40 years construction experience into his role as a Project Manager for 620 Construction. Bruce has always enjoyed working with his hands and started his construction career as a Tradesman who specialized in five different crafts. Using this construction knowledge, he has spent the last 30 years of his career in the roles of Estimator, Purchaser and Project Manager. In his seven years with 620 Construction, Bruce has served as the Project Manager on a number of notable projects and says his favorite was the Trillium Creek Dermatology Center because of the uniqueness of the project. A true craftsman, Bruce enjoys spending his spare time working on small projects in his woodshop and practicing his laser engraving skills.
Jeff Maurer is a Project Manager for 620 Construction and has over 18 years of project management and estimating experience. A graduate from The University of Akron, he has spent almost his entire professional career at 620 Construction. Jeff believes the most exciting part about being a Project Manager is being able to guide his clients through the building process while developing a lifelong construction relationship that will last long after the project is complete. When Jeff isn’t managing projects, he can be found spending time on the lake or on a soccer field.
Justin Kerner serves as a Project Manager and Estimator on our 620 Construction Team. Since graduating from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor’s in Construction Management, he has spent his entire career in a Project Management role and brings five years’ experience to his current position. In the time he has been with the company, he says that the culture and willingness of people to collaborate and help one another within the 620 Construction Team is what truly sets the company apart. Outside of construction, Justin is a huge sports fan and is always ready to talk about some Ohio State Football.
Chief Executive Officer
Paul brings over 35 years of construction industry management experience into his current role as CEO of Firelands Fabrication, Janotta & Herner and 620 Construction. In 1985, he began as Chief Financial Officer for a construction materials company in Columbus, Ohio and then in 2000 became General Manager of the company’s seven ready mix plants in south central Ohio. In 2013, Paul came back to the area as President of Dauch Concrete and spent six years in that capacity. Paul grew up in Monroeville and currently lives in Norwalk with Denise, his wife of 42 years. When he is not working, he has one hobby- basketball. He has been the Boys Head Basketball Coach for Monroeville High School for the past two years.
Corporate Treasurer, V.P.
Patti Anderson is the Corporate Treasurer of the JHI Group of Companies, which includes 620 Construction. She has been part of the JHI Group Team for over 28 years and has worked in almost every aspect of accounting during her career. When asked what she enjoys most about working with the JHI Group, she will tell you that the people and work atmosphere is what truly sets the company apart. In her free time, Patti enjoys spending time with her family and enjoys being outside.
JHI Group Vice President, COO
Jason Ott is our Vice President of Construction Operations and is a vital part of our building process. With countless industrial certifications and a construction knowledge spanning over 30 years, he is the JHI Group’s go-to problem solver. If a project presents a tricky situation, Jason is the one who comes up with a solution. Some of his favorite projects with the JHI Group are some of our most unique, such as lifting a car to the top floor of Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky or replacing a 120-year-old Church steeple in Norwalk. Jason believes that our ability to complete a wide variety of projects, both big and small, is unique and is what makes the JHI Group of Companies such a great organization to work for.
Mark Chase, PE
Continuous Improvement Leader
Mark began his career with Janotta & Herner in 1995, serving as Vice President and Project Manager of many high priority jobs. Prior to his time with our company, he held Engineering, Project Management and Estimating positions for a local commercial/industrial design-build company. In 2011, Mark decided to change gears focus on investigating and repairing existing structures as a Senior Associate with a global firm of Engineers, Architects and Materials Scientists. As of early 2018, Mark has returned back to JHI Group Inc. as President and CEO and now oversees management of all three business units. Mark is a registered Professional Engineer in four states and has obtained bachelor degrees in both Civil Engineering and Construction Technology.
ESOP – Employee Stock Ownership Plan
In 2016, 620 Construction became an ESOP Company by joining the JHI Group of Companies. Employee Owners realize the benefits of their ESOP account upon retirement and recognize that success is measured long-term. Consequently, our employees strive to make certain that each Client is satisfied and each project is successful because our Client’s success is directly proportional to our success. We will not sacrifice long-term quality for short-term gains. This philosophy guides our business, Client relationships and design considerations.

Organized in 2016, the JHI Group is a construction focused organization that consists of three different business divisions. 620 Construction, a Design/Build General Contractor located in Medina, Ohio; Janotta & Herner, a Design/Build Construction Company located in Monroeville, Ohio; and Firelands Fabrication, a Steel Fabricating Company located in New London, Ohio. Although all three of these companies are independent, they are integrated to share resources such as labor, equipment, and design capabilities, which allow each company to provide an even greater value to its Clients.
